The tactical blind spot that few people see lies in this: instead of trying to find a new outside hitter, the coaching staff may have to adjust the entire operating philosophy. With the current roster, maintaining a fast-paced offense based on perfect receptions is nearly impossible. A more viable option is to shift to a defensive counter-attacking style, prioritizing blocking and digging, waiting for opportunities from opponents' high balls. This means accepting a lower ceiling, but it is the safest choice amid the personnel crisis. Another issue to consider: does the pressure of an Asiad justify sacrificing the long-term development of young talents Bui Thi Anh Thao and Pham Quynh Huong? Pushing them into top-tier competition before they are physically and mentally ready could have unpredictable consequences. I have witnessed many young talents burned out because they were thrust into high-stakes matches too early, leaving scars that are hard to heal in their careers. Asiad 20 is not just a multi-sport event; it is also a place to accumulate crucial points for the FIVB world ranking, directly affecting the ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. A poor result in Japan would put the team in a disadvantageous position in the race for Olympic qualification. This is the moment when the coaching staff needs the wisest decisions, not to save a single tournament, but to protect the future of an entire generation of players.
